前回、つまり去年の10月に以前のブログ記事でプーケット旅行について述べましたが、私は旅行が好きです。

今は5月ですので、一緒に冒険を続け、それ以来訪れた場所を見つけましょう！
海外旅行の計画を立てていましたが、円の価値が非常に弱くなっているため、地元の場所を探索することにしました。準備はいいですか？行きましょう！
今回の旅先はこちらです。

I said it in October last year in my previous blog post about my trip to Phuket, I like to travel. It is now May, so let’s continue our adventure together, and discover the places I went to since then!
We had planned to go overseas, but since the Yen is now very weak, we decided to explore local places. Get set, ready… go!
On the menu today:
- Hokkaido
- Nagasaki
- Okinawa
Hokkaido in December - 12月の北海道
私の妻の夢の一つは、日本でスキーをすることでした。
彼女はユタ州で育ち、スキーはそこで非常に人気があります。
彼女の家族は毎年行っていましたので、彼女は日本で少なくとも一度はこの経験をしたかったのです。
私の方は常にビーチの近くで育ち、人生で数回しかスキーに行ったことがありませんでした。
ですので、私はあまり頻繁にすることのないことをするアイデアが気に入りました！
その後、12月にスキーに行くスキー場を探すことにしました。
福岡に住んでいるため、最も簡単な選択肢はおそらく広島に行くことでした。
しかし、私たちは既にそこに行ったことがあり、新しい場所に行きたかったのです。
私たち二人とも北海道に行ったことがなかったので、それが最良の選択肢だと判断しました。
それから、最初に旭川、次に札幌で数日間過ごすために、航空券とホテルを予約しました。
ちなみに、「スキー」と書いていますが、正確には「スノーボード」と書いたほうがいいかもしれません。私の膝は高齢でスキーには弱すぎます… ^_^;
One of my spouse’s dreams was to go skiing in Japan. She was raised in Utah, and skiing is very popular there. Her family used to go every year, so she really wanted to experience this in Japan at least once. On my side, I was always raised close to the beach, and only went skiing a couple of times in my life. So I liked the idea to do something I don’t get to do often!
We then decided to find a ski station to go skiing in December. Living in Fukuoka, the easiest choice was probably to go to Hiroshima. But we had already been there and wanted to go to a new place. Both of us had never been to Hokkaido, so we decided it was the best choice.
We then booked plane tickets and hotels to spend a few days first in Asahikawa and then Sapporo.
By the way, I say “skiing”, but I should really say “snowboarding”, my knees are too old and weak for skiing… ^_^;
Snowboarding in Asahikawa - 旭川でスノーボード
私たちはカムイスキーリンクスという小さなスキーリゾートに行きました。
1月1日だったので、混雑しておらず、全く並ぶ必要がなかったのが良かったです。
そのおかげで、何度も斜面を滑ることができました！
私たちは半日、午前中だけスノーボードをしましたが、私のFitbitウォッチによると、1500カロリーを消費したそうです... うわー... もし体重を減らしたいなら、もっとスノーボードをすればいいかもしれません！
私の妻は、私が最後にスノーボードをしたのは15年以上前だったため、私が頻繁に転んで退屈するのではないかと心配していました。
しかし、幸いなことに、私はまだスノーボードのやり方を覚えており、私のレベルはまだまずまずでした。
もちろん、彼女の方が私よりもずっと上手です！
カムイスキーリンクス（スキー場）

We went to a small ski resort called Kamui Ski Links. Because it was on the 1st of January, it was not crowded, and it was nice to not have to queue up at all. Thanks to this, we managed to go down the slopes many times! We only snowboarded half a day, in the morning, but my Fitbit watch calculated that I burned 1500 calories… Wow… if I want to lose weight, maybe I should snowboard more often!
My spouse was worried that because the last time I snowboarded was more than 15 years ago, I would be constantly falling and she would get bored. But thankfully, I still remembered how to snowboard, and my level was still decent. Of course, she is much better than me!
The penguin walk - ペンギン散歩
旭川は大きな動物園でも有名であり、特にペンギンの散歩が有名です。
毎日、動物園のスタッフが数羽のペンギンを動物園を散歩させます。
見に来た人々はその後、列を作って彼らを見ます。
正直なところ、それは今までで最もかわいいものです！残念ながら、そこはかなり混雑していました。
しかし、私たちはペンギンたちを良い視点から見ることができました
旭山動物園

Asahikawa is also famous for having a big zoo, and especially for the penguin walk. Everyday the zoo staff will take a few penguins on a walk through the zoo. People then line up to see them. Honestly, it is the cutest thing ever! Unfortunately, it was quite crowded. But we managed to get a good view of them.
Buddha, Stonehenge, Moai - 仏陀、ストーンヘンジ、モアイ
旭川の後、札幌に向かうために電車に乗りました。
市の南には、頭大仏殿と呼ばれる場所があります。
それは丘に巣食う大きな仏像です。遠くから見ると、丘から頭部の先だけが見えます。
それはかなり面白く、普通ではない光景です！実際、丘の内部に入って、下から仏像を見ることもできます。
同じエリアには、大きな石が互いに並べられており、ストーンヘンジ（イギリスの世界遺産）に似ています。
また、イースター島のモアイ像に似た像もあります。
これらの異なる文化の混合は、普段はあまり見られないものなので、私たちはそこに行って良かったと思いました。

After Asahikawa, we took the train to go to Sapporo.
South of the city, there is a place called Hill of the Buddha. It’s a big Buddha statue nested into a hill. If you look at it from far away, you can only see the top of the head coming out of the hill. It’s quite funny, and an unusual sight! You can even go inside the hill and view the statue from the bottom.
In the same area, there are big stones placed next to each other, and that resemble Stonehenge, as well as Moai statues similar to the statues you can find on Easter Islands. All this mix of different cultures is not something you see often, so we were glad we went there.
Nagasaki in February - 2月の長崎
2月には、ランタンフェスティバルを見るために1日だけ長崎への旅行をしました。
以前に長崎に行ったことはありましたが、ランタンフェスティバルを見たことはありませんでした。
福岡からそこに行くのはとても簡単なので、前日に行くことを決めました。時々、即興の旅行が一番楽しいものです！
私たちは昼間に市内を見学し、日が沈むと、ランタンがある場所に行きました。
最初は、祭りは中華街でしか開催されていませんでした。
しかし、それが人気を博するようになってからは、今では市内のあちこちにランタンが見られます。
昼間は少し休憩したかったので、ネットで猫の写真が掲載されているカフェを見つけて、そこに行くことにしました。
私たちは知りませんでしたが、どうやらこの猫は有名で、NHKの番組にも出演していました。
猫が好きな妻はとても幸せで、その猫はとてもかわいかったので、これだけでも長崎に行った価値がありました。

In February, we had a 1-day trip to Nagasaki to see the lantern festival. We went to Nagasaki in the past, but had never seen the lantern festival. Since it is so easy to go there from Fukuoka, the day before, we made the decision to go. Sometimes, impromptu trips are the most fun!
We toured the city during the day, and when the sun went down, we went to places where they had lanterns. Initially, the festival was held only in Chinatown. But since it has gotten more popular, you can see lanterns all over the city now.
During the day, we also wanted to take a break, so when we saw a cafe with pictures of a cat online, we decided to go. We did not know, but apparently, this cat was famous, and even featured in an NHK show. My wife, who loves cats, was very happy, and the cat was so cute that only this almost made it worth going to Nagasaki.
Okinawa in April - 4月の沖縄
今年の3回目の旅行は、沖縄本島への旅でした。
私は約6年前に沖縄に行ったことがありますが、妻にとっては初めての経験だったので、彼女はかなり興奮していました。
Our third trip of the year was on the main island of Okinawa. I went to Okinawa about 6 years ago, but it was the first time for my spouse, so she was quite excited.
False start ? - 不正スタート？
到着の翌日、台湾の近くで大きな地震があり、沖縄の全ての島に津波警報が出されました。
このため、私たちはこれによって早めに荷物をまとめて帰宅する必要があるかもしれないと思いました。
私たちは建物の5階にあるホテルの部屋で待機しました。スタッフによると、そこなら安全だと言われました。
幸いなことに、警報は解除され、私たちから遠く離れた島にわずか30センチの波が押し寄せただけで、被害はありませんでした。
The day after we arrived, there was a big earthquake close to Taiwan, and a tsunami warning for all islands of Okinawa. We thought that because of this, we might have to pack up and go back home prematurely. We waited in our hotel room on the 5th floor of the building, where the staff told us we would be safe.
Luckily enough, the warning was lifted off, and only a 30cm wave hit an island far from us and nobody got injured.
Botanical garden - 植物園
私たちは1週間の滞在中に多くの場所を訪れましたが、いくつかの場所について話すなら、最初に挙げるのは植物園です。
その理由は、カピバラがいて、触れることができるからです！
カピバラは私の好きな野生動物のトップ 3 に入る（シマウマ、トラと並んで）ので、ずっと飼いたいと思っていました。
植物園に入ると、すぐにカピバラがどこにいるかを確認するために地図をチェックしました。
そして、私たちはゆっくりとそこに向かいました。
まず、大きなカメに餌をやるために立ち止まりました。それから、すぐにカピバラがいるところへ行きました。
その時はほとんど誰もいなくてとても嬉しかったですし、カピバラたちはとてもリラックスしているようでした。
私たちは、床にうつ伏せで寝そべっているカピバラのそばを歩き過ぎましたが、カピバラは私たちを見ても全然動きませんでした。
そして、私たちが撫で始めると、カピバラは仰向けになって、腹を撫でることができました。それはとてもかわいかったです！
We visited many places during our week there, but if I had to pick a few places to talk about, the first one would be the botanical garden.
The reason why I want to talk about it is because they have capybaras, and you can pet them! Capybaras are in my top 3 favorite wild animals (with zebras and tigers), and I always wanted to pet one.
As soon as we entered the botanical garden, I checked the map to see where the capybaras would be. Then, we slowly made our way there. First we stopped to feed some big tortoises. Then, right after that we went to the capybaras.
I was very happy that there was almost nobody there at the time, and the capybaras seemed very relaxed. We walked past a couple of them that were laying on their stomach on the floor, and they did not even move seeing us. Then, when we started petting them, they rolled on their back, so we could pet their bellies. That was so cute!
Aquarium - 水族館
そして2番目の場所は美ら海水族館です。
その理由は、私の妻が一生に少なくとも一度は、大きなクジラやサメを見たいと非常に興味があったからです。
私は彼女に、ジンベエザメがいるので水族館に行くべきだと言いましたが、サプライズにしたかったので、大きさについてはあまり触れませんでした。
水族館を進んでいくと、ジンベエザメが展示されている大きな水槽に到着しました。
最初は、側面から来たため、ジンベエザメは見えませんでした。
見えたのはマンタだけでしたが、すでに妻は感動していました。マンタは美しく、かなり大きいですから。
そして突然、ジンベエザメが現れました。私の妻は言葉を途中で止め、口を開いたままただ見つめていました。
その瞬間、彼女が重要な記憶に残っていることがわかりました。
私たちは結局、水槽の近くにほぼ1時間滞在し、彼女が想像以上に多くの写真を撮りました！
美ら海水族館

The second place I would talk about is the Churaumi Aquarium. The reason why is because my spouse is very interested in seeing big whales or sharks at least once in her lifetime. I told her that we should go to the aquarium because they have a whale shark, but I did not mention too much about the size of it, because I wanted it to be a surprise.
We made our way through the aquarium, until we arrived at the big tank that hosts the whale shark. At first, because we arrived from the side, it was not visible, and we could only see manta rays. Already my spouse was impressed, because they are beautiful and quite big. Then, suddenly, the whale shark appeared. My wife stopped talking mid-sentence, her mouth stayed open, and she just looked at it. At that moment, I could tell that she was making a core memory. We ended up staying near the tank for almost 1 hour, and she took more pictures than you can imagine!

これで2024年の旅行は終了ですね！
現時点で、私たちはゴールデンウィークに香港、そして5月末に東京（レッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズのコンサートに行く予定です！）の航空券を既に購入しています。
次にどこに行くか検討中ですが、8月にはフィリピン、年末には台湾を考えています。どう思いますか？何かおすすめの場所はありますか？

At the moment, we have already bought plane tickets for Hong Kong for Golden week, and Tokyo at the end of May (going to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert!).
Where should we go next? We are thinking about the Philippines in August and Taiwan at the end of the year. What do you think? Do you have any recommendations?
